The central article gives insights into an upcoming exhibition of Latvian Contemporary Photography called The Medium is the Message? that will take place in Riga, Andrejsala from August 28 till September 28. Art historian and curator of the exhibition Līga Lindenbauma writes about the concept of the exhibition and introduces to the artists and their works.
“Foto Kvartāls” offers its readers several articles dedicated to the Russian Culture season in Latvia:  Photographer and art historian Jekaterina Vikuļina presents an interview with the chairperson of the Moscow House of Photography Olga Sviblova and a conversation with represantatives of the agency, gallery and magazine of contemporary photography Photographer.ru – chairperson of gallery Larisa Grinberg and chairperson of board of directors Vladimir Dudchenko. Art observer Jānis Borgs tells about the life and work of Latvian photography classic and significant portraitist of Riga Leons Balodis. Works of Leons Balodis also illustrate an essay of philosopher Jānis Taurens about the Silhouette of Riga in photographies.
Photographer and chairperson of Rigaphotography club Eiženija Anna Freimane presents an interview with photographer Aivis Šmulders.
Alberts Ziemelis tells about his experience as a photographer in Nepal while Alfrēds Dreiblats shares with us his memories of  the difficulties in doing photography in early postwar years.
